Do I have to stop Medication for functional medicine?

Functional and nutritional support can be used with all medications and often optimizes the efficacy of drugs and often minimizes side effects.

How does functional psychiatry work alongside traditional therapies for anorexia, like CBT or family therapy?

Every protocol discussed in our course can and should be integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan, including all types of therapy. The goal is to augment the current treatment model.

Is functional psychiatry effective for chronic or long-term anorexia cases?

Absolutely, long-term anorexia is defined by chronic malnutrition, and understanding nutritional deficiencies will enhance recovery and prevent relapse.

Are there specific dietary plans or supplements recommended for recovery from anorexia?

Yes, through our course, you will learn about supplement recommendations and dietary plans that are more focused on nutrition improvement vs. simply caloric intake.

Do your course provide strategies for managing ADHD without medication?

Our courses are designed to create a 360-degree support system work alongside your current treatment. Functional Medicine for ADHD aims to treat the root cause of your symptoms and promotes general health and wellness. Whereas medicine often helps to reduce the symptoms, it fails to address the root causes of this disorder. Our courses are designed to support the whole person, addressing nutrition and other  imbalances. Our programs are not designed to replace medicine, but often, over time, medicine can be re-evaluated with dosing reduced and sometimes eliminated.

Are there side effects or risks involved in functional psychiatry treatments?

The core protocols of functional psychiatry are based on lab testing, nutrition and lifestyle adjustments, and, most importantly, a personalized supplement schedule based on what laboratory tests reveal. Most importantly,  the supplements we recommend are over-the-counter supplements that are safe, and it is very unusual to have side effects.

Is a functional medicine for mental health approach safe for children, and are there different protocols for kids and adults?

Functional medicine for mental health is safe and appropriate for children.  The overarching philosophy is the same for children and adults. The doses and supplements will vary. Every person is unique, and what is right for one person (adult and child) is different than another. This is all part of what we teach. This is the definition of functional medicine.

How long does it usually take to see improvements in symptoms with functional approaches?

Each individual is unique, and that is the centerpiece of Functional Medicine. Some people will see improvements within a few weeks, while others won’t see notable improvements for one to three months.
